IDEAS (vol.6): Seasonal and Special event times
It's good to be aware that at times when special events are taking place in or around the city and/or seasonal events (such as Christmas parties) are happening, that not only are entertainers more likely to be very busy but seasonal rates may also come into play. Often, during non-busy times of the year, entertainers can sometimes (and may if they can) stay longer than they are booked. During busier times this can me almost impossible to do. Please understand and try to assist your entertainer in leaving on time. Have your payment ready in advance as this will help to create a much less stressful environment and make everything better for all.
IDEAS (vol.5): Pricing
When calling around in search of the perfect entertainer for your event you will often find a wide price range from one entertainer to another. To help you in your decision try this: Ask the entertainer (not whoever answers the phone as many companies work out of their homes) about some of his/her previos shows and how long they have been entertaining. An experienced entertainer will respond with confidence and certainty. Never let price be the overall deciding factor as you may end up being disappointed.
IDEAS (vol.4): Payment / tips
Always have the payment for your entertainment etc... ready at the completion of the scheduled time. Many entertainers will have more than one booking each day and may have a very tight schedule. (tips are appreciated for a good performance, delivery, meal etc...)
Also, try to pay for childrens entertainment away from the kids or in an envelope. Nothing lets down a child like knowing that the clown was payed to be there
IDEAS (vol.3): Book Early
Everyone of the funcalgary.com members has a story about someone calling last minute and then after throwing the entire event together complains that things weren't spectacular. As with everything else in this world, planning is the key for both the planners and the hired persons and/or companies. The more time allowed for getting food, shows, music etc... fine tuned to your particular event, the better your event/ party will be.
IDEAS (vol.2): Times
When booking an entertainer, try to book for about 1/2 hour after your guests are scheduled to arrive. Rarely is everyone on time and this will give your guests extra time to arrive before the entertainment does. This way everyone has fun, nobody misses anything and you get your moneys worth.
IDEAS (vol.1): Planning a Party?
Try starting with a specific party theme (beach party, super heros, circus...) Themes make it easier to select the kind of entertainment you require AND also easier for your entertainment to fine tune their acts/shows for your event. Be sure to let them know your theme too.
